PROGRAM MISSION

School of Excellence's mission is to provide a high level and exciting training program for our U7-U10 boys and girls. The program is designed to further develop the individual player's relationship with the ball and to stimulate their desire to play soccer. The program will provide an environment which promotes quality soccer education, healthy competition and freedom to play and enjoy the game. Our younger players (U5 and U6) participate in Turbo Tots which is a similar program but designed more for younger ages.

ABOUT SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE:

The School of Excellence is one of many programs that Colorado Rush has to offer its members. This is a seven-week program designed and modeled after elite programs of European professional clubs. School of Excellence programs have existed in many top programs in Europe for the past 30 years. Players now playing at clubs like Liverpool, AC Milan, Ajax and Juventus began their careers as soccer-crazed seven year olds.

The program will introduce players to the competitive game as well as its systems and positional play. It will improve their creativity and technical skills, expand awareness about the game in different cultures, and set new standards and goals.

The training curriculum is designed in conjunction with the competitive staff training curriculum. It is designed to compliment the future game as well as to address the immediate needs of the youngsters. It is a combination of technical and tactical topics with emphasis mostly on technical development of the players. The curriculum will cover important topics such as:

• Dribbling: including shielding and taking players on
• Finishing: technique for placement/power and how to properly shape body to execute different types of shots
• Passing: striking the ball with a variety of surfaces
• Offensive small group combinations and shape
• Defending: teaching players to hunt the ball as a group
